Ok Moms. I need some help. I have questions that need to be answered. Here we go.
1) When do you take away the pacifier?
2) What time should they REALLY go to bed? When they are tired? Make them even if they aren't ready?
3) When do you get them to 1 nap a day?
4) When do you drop the bottle?
How did you do these things? I want to make sure she's not 3 with a pacifier in her mouth and waving her bottle in her hand still on formula :)

Girl you are asking questions that could give you more answers than you wanted. And, all babies are different so there is no remember there is no right answer!
Here I mine for the notebook your about to start:
1) Whenver "Mommy is ready" - Claire still has hers, I got rid of Victoria's at 18 mos. (after we took our 9 hour flight to Europe!) Like I said when mommy is ready!
2) Again depends on how much sleep your baby needs. All babies require different amounts of sleep. If they are still taking 2 naps probably a little later (8 - 8:30) if only one nap maybe (6:30 - 7). You be judge not a textbook or another mommy should dictate this to you. You know your Abbie and signs of when she is getting tired.
3)Claire still takes two naps a day at 15 mos. because she needs them. Ask Robin and you'll get a different answer. If Abbie isn't cranky around 9 or 10 I'd let her skip the morning nap. If she's fussy put her down.
4) Per my pediatrician (Dr. D. Goff) at 1 year old. I am a firm believer in this and both my girls got off the bottle at 12 mos. Then again, if your baby doesn't take a paci, or is attached to the bottle you make the call. I think Ped. are just concerned about the teeth coming in and sucking on one past that time. But, hey I'm sure I wasn't off a bottle at exactly 12 mos. old and my teeth are fine. :)
Like I said get out your notebook! Hope this helps and happy mothering!
Ok...I'll give you my "stats" but I agree with Theresa...EVERY KID IS DIFFERENT!
(1) Mine never used a pacifier so I don't have an answer.
(2)Until she was about a year or so old I put her to bed when she was tired...no certain bedtime...then we started getting into a prebedtime routine so bedtime was predictible so now she goes every night b/w 8 and 9. I have ALWAYS had sleep issues with her so this made sleeping a little easier.
(3)With her she started right at 12 months going to 1 nap...however...this totally depends on the child and it can get trying during the transition but you will know when to start only putting her down once...there may be a few weeks where one day she needs 2 and one day she needs one...just pay attention to her signs of sleepiness...
(4)I nursed until she was 18 months...I switched to Nuby sippy cups (Walmart definitly has these..not sure about anywhere else) from her bottle...The rock. I think I did this maybe when she was a year...or maybe a little bit later..dangit..i can't remember when she went from bottles to sippy cups..
My plan was and still is always to move at the pace of my daughter...if I think it's time for her to move on to something new or a new phase I'll test it out and see how she responds...like sippy cups, bottles, pacifiers...naps...just try different things and see what works for her!
DON'T WORRY! :-)
I agree with TLo and Steph. Reia dropped her morning nap at 13 mos and Reese did at about 10. Those transitions are a total pain, but they pass! Also, remember that transitions don't happen overnight. They often take weeks (in the napping thing anyway). I just took Reese off of her bottle at 18 mos. She only got it in the am. If she wakes up in the middle of the night and I can't get her back to sleep after several hours, she can still have it as far as my sanity is concerned!
That doesn't really answer all of your questions, but you probably have enough info now. Call me if you want to chat.
Thanks moms! I think I worry too much that my child will be doing something that should she should have dropped by 6 months ago! I am concerned about her beginning Chidlren's Day Out and still needed 2 naps. Hope they accomodate!
